Madamegazelle was a color rough for Topps Chewing Gum, May 1975, for what was then called Cover Parodies.
I think this was the first piece of Wacky Art that I ever purchased. I remember buying the rough from Robert Lifson when I went to visit him in Hoboken, New Jersey. Those were always very expensive weekends. This rough contains the date May
1975 and has Jay Lynch's old address and phone number. I remember calling Jay on the phone when I returned to Chicago and asked him if I could come over and meet him. I drove over to his apartment on a Saturday morning in a terrible snow storm and stayed until 4 p.m. I couldn't get my car out of the snow and had to borrow a shovel. That was the beginning of a long friendship that has lasted until Jay passed away....
